Fully refurbished in 2016, this traditional 19th-century inn sits snugly on the edge of Dartmoor. Friendly, full of character, and perfectly blending the old with the new, the striking exterior maintains the look of the original inn, whilst that feel is maintained throughout the hotel with plenty of period touches, like the oak beams in the ceilings and the wood fire in the restaurant and bar.
Sitting on the very edge of Dartmoor, it’s the ideal location for heading out and exploring the spectacular national park. Expect to find fantastic walking, running and cycling paths winding through moorland and around granite tours. Discover archaeological sitesand stone circles, or even go for a dip with a spot of wild swimming. The hotel is also close to the coast and surrounded by a host of other attractions and sites, including Compton Castle, Dartmoor Zoo and Paignton beach.
Accommodation
All of the 17 rooms offer a thoroughly modern hotel stay, blending tasteful décor with large, comfortable beds, fresh and airy en-suite bathrooms, plus flatscreen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Settle in and put your feet up with tea and coffee making facilities or order some delicious food & drink from the room service menu. Then tuck yourself into the crisp white linen sheets and relax on a luxurious 1200 pocket sprung mattress.
Dining
The restaurant serves a delicious selection of traditional British pub classics. Choose from sizzling steaks, succulent burgers, lighter bites, plus a range of fine wines and real ales. In the morning, you can wake up to a tasty Full English or continental breakfast to set you up for the day ahead.
The bar is also a welcome, cosy retreat from the wilds of Dartmoor. While on long summer evenings you can enjoy the lovely, leafy terrace.
This is a pet friendly hotel. There is limited availability on their rooms for pets and are offered on a first come, first served basis.
